What do you want to knit/crochet? This class is for you. Receive guidance and instruction from start to finish on your new or old project while enjoying the encouragement of others. You choose your own project. Choose a project from the Highlights. Toe Up Sock Class 
This is a fun pattern, you will learn how to do a figure 8 cast on. how to figure out the size you need and how to do German short row shaping for the heel.
This does require homework in order for you to complete the project in the allotted time. Students are expected to know the basics, knit and purl stitches, and knitting in the round.
Date: Mar 31, April 7, 14
Time: 2pm to 4 pm
1 - 100 gram ball of sock yarn 
1- pair of dpns size 2.5 or 2.25 
1- darning needle 
1- small pair of scissors 
Cost: $30 plus materials.
Short rows can be used to shape armholes and sleeves, to add design elements in your knitting, or to make sock heels. In this class, you will learn how to knit a sock with a short-row heel. Students should know how to follow a knitting pattern, and how to use double pointed needles to cast on, knit, purl, decrease, and bind off.
Materials: 100 gm sock weight yarn light colour, 4 double pointed needles size 2.5mm, pattern will be provided.

Haven’t knit for years and feel out of practice? Need confidence to take on a project? Knitting a stylish hat with a simple cable will get you up to speed quickly. You’ll learn to read a pattern and follow a chart; cast on stitches using a circular needle and join them to knit in the round; knit on double pointed needles; decrease stitches; learn to knit a simple cable. This class is appropriate for students who have taken our Beginner class or for students who already have a grasp of the basics of knitting, purling, casting on and off, and want to brush up on, or broaden their skills.
Materials: One skein of Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky, Vintage Chunky or similar bulky yarn; 5.5 mm (US 9) and 6.5 mm (US 10.5) 16” circular needles, 6.5 mm (US 10.5) double pointed needles; stitch markers and a cable needle, faux fur pom pom if desired.

Learn to knit a cotton dish cloth and fingerless mittens using basic skills including the knit stitch, purl stitch, casting on and binding off stitches, increasing/decreasing stitches, following a pattern and understanding common knitting terms and abbreviations. No experience required.
Materials: Dish cloth cotton yarn and worsted weight yarn (gloves) 4.50 mm or 5.00 mm needles (light colored needles and yarn are recommended)

Learn how to cast on and knit/purl using double pointed needles, how to create the gusset and thumb, and shape the mitten top.
Should know how to follow a knitting pattern, cast on, knit, purl, and cast off.
Materials: 100 gm worsted weight yarn, 4 double pointed needles size 3.5mm (or 3.25 if you tend to be a loose knitter)

Learn to chain, single crochet, double crochet, and how to read a crochet pattern. First project is a dishcloth then move on to a scarf or a hat. No experience required.
Materials: Crochet cotton for dishcloth, worsted weight yarn for scarf/hat, 6 mm crochet hook, darning needle.

Learn to make beautiful and warm felted slippers for the whole family. Students should be able to use circular or double pointed needles to cast on/off, knit and purl, and increase/decrease stitches.
Materials: Lopi Wool or Cascade 220 worsted weight yarn (2 skeins main color, 1 skein contrast color), Felted Slipper Pattern, 24” circular needles size 9mm.

Learn how to prepare and cut a steek in a tube of knitted fabric - without fear! Steeks can be used to open sweater fronts, armholes, neck holes, pocket openings, or anywhere else an opening in your knitting is desired.
Pre-work is required. Students must prepare a swatch of fabric knitted in stockinette using worsted weight yarn that is either wool or mostly wool. The swatch should be about 5 inches wide by 6 inches long. 
Materials: The knitted swatch using worsted weight light coloured yarn, a crochet hook in size 4.5 or 5.0 mm, and some spare yarn in a contrasting colour.

St Andrews ~ Toe-Up Sock Class/ Knitting Two at a time!

Learn to knit toe up socks on a circular needle. Sandra will teach you the Turkish Cast on method and German short rows for shaping the heel.

Materials: One ball of Opal sock yarn, one 2.75 - 100 cm circular needle, five stitch markers scissors, tape measure. A good selection of Opal sock yarn as well as the circular needle and stitch markers will be available for purchase at the first class.

Enjoy the afternoon learning the tips and designs of creativity in needle felting.
