LEARN TO CROCHET
Class Description:Learn to chain, single crochet, double crochet, and how to read a crochet pattern. First project is a dishcloth then move on to a scarf or a hat

LEARN TO KNIT
Class Description:Knit a cotton dish cloth and fingerless mittens using basic skills including the knit stitch, purl stitch, casting on and binding off stitches, increasing/decreasing stitches, following a pattern and understanding common knitting terms and abbreviations.
Experience:No experience required.
Materials:Dish cloth cotton yarn and worsted weight yarn (gloves) 4.50 mm or 5.00 mm needles (light colored needles and yarn are recommended). Patterns will be provided.

Class Description:Learn how to make beautiful and warm felted slippers for the whole family.

GET BACK TO KNITTING
Class Description:Haven’t knit for years and feel out of practice? Need confidence to take on a project? Knitting a stylish hat with a simple cable will get you up to speed quickly. You’ll learn to read a pattern and follow a chart; cast on stitches using a circular needle and join them to knit in the round; knit on double pointed needles; decrease stitches; learn to knit a simple cable.
Experience:This class is for students who have taken our Beginner class or for students who already have a grasp of the basics of knitting, purling, casting on and off, and want to brush up on, or broaden their skills.
Materials:One skein of Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky, Vintage Chunky or similar bulky yarn; 5.5 mm (US 9) and 6.5 mm (US 10.5) 16” circular needles, 6.5 mm (US 10.5) double pointed needles; stitch markers and a cable needle, faux fur pom pom if desired. Pattern will be provided.

KNITTING EASY MITTENS ON 4 NEEDLES
Class Description:Learn how to cast on and knit/purl using double pointed needles, how to create the gusset and thumb, and shape the mitten top.

Materials:100 gm worsted weight yarn, 4 double pointed needles size 3.5mm (or 3.25 if you tend to be a loose knitter). Pattern will be provided.

KNITTING SOCKS WITH SHORT- ROW HEELS
Class Description:Short rows can be used to shape armholes and sleeves, to add design elements in your knitting, or to make sock heels. In this class, you will learn how to knit a sock with a short-row heel.
Experience:INTERMEDIATE: You should know how to follow a knitting pattern, and how to use double pointed needles to cast on, knit, purl, decrease, and bind off.
Materials:100 gm sock weight yarn in a light colour and 15 gm in a contrasting light color to make the heel; 4 double pointed needles size 2.50 or 2.75. Pattern will be provided.

LEARN TO STEEK
Class Description:Learn how to prepare and cut a steek in a tube of knitted fabric - without fear! Steeks can be used to open sweater fronts, armholes, neck holes, pocket openings, or anywhere else an opening in your knitting is desired.
Experience:No steeking experience required
Pre-work :A swatch of fabric knitted in stockinette using a light-coloured worsted weight yarn that is either wool or mostly wool. The swatch should be about 5 inches wide by 6 inches long.
Materials:The knitted swatch, a crochet hook in size 4.5 or 5.0 mm, and some spare yarn in a contrasting colour.

TOP DOWN BABY SWEATER (Flax)
Class Description:Great first sweater project! Knit a raglan baby sweater top down on circular needles. Once you’ve finished the class you’ll be able to knit a matching one for yourself! The pattern goes from new born to adult size 4XL.
Experience:Should know how to follow a knitting pattern, cast on, knit, purl, increase and decrease stitches and cast off using circular or double pointed needles.
MaterialsWorsted weight yarn (270 yards for size 0-6 months). Needles: US6/4mm and US8/5mm – 16” circular and DPN’s in each size. Stitch markers and tapestry needle. Pattern is ‘Flax’ (available on ravelry.com - free).

Ravelry is the favourite website of knitters, crocheters, and yarn lovers. This class will provide basic information on how to use the site, including setting up an account (free), searching for patterns and yarns, creating bundles of your favourites, viewing the projects of other Ravelers, learning about knitting techniques, and finding favourite designers.
We will also briefly explore other sites such as Pinterest and Patternfish.
